Every season is special here in the heart of the Chequamegon National Forest and the Wild Goose Resort is your doorway to the abundant activities in and around the area.
Located midway between Minocqua and Park Falls on Round Lake of the famous Pike Lake Chain, the Wild Goose Resort offers activities for the whole family!
Come enjoy fishing, water sports, hiking, biking, ATV, and snowmobile trails that start right at our door. Visit us for excellent hunting, ice fishing and cross-country skiing. You'll find: Lake of the Torches Casino, golf, horseback riding, shopping, entertainment, and dining; all within a short drive from the resort.
Fishing
There is great fishing for the avid fisherman with musky, bass, walleye, northern pike, crappies, perch, rock bass, blue gills and sturgeon. Motor trolling is permitted on Round Lake and Pike Lake. There are two large piers to safely dock your boat, or use one of ours. (14 foot row boats are available for guests.) There are two public access boat ramps, one next to the resort. A screened fish-cleaning house with running water and electricity ensures proper care of your catch. Spring and Fall offer the best fishing and, of course, ice fishing for the cold weather fisherman.
Hunting
Price County is part of the Chequamegon National Forest that is open for deer, bear, grouse, ducks and snowshoe hunting. The hunter can walk for miles along trails through the forest without worrying about "no hunting" signs. Park Falls is the "Ruffed Grouse Capital of the World".
Cross Country Skiing
Nine cross-country ski trails, including the Round Lake Wilderness Study Area, offer a variety of challenges for the beginner or experienced skier. The terrain is rolling and wooded and frequented by deer and other wildlife, offering the skier a beautiful experience in the northern forest.
The Neighborhood
The nearby towns of Minocqua and Park Falls have plenty to offer, but the surrounding neighborhood has some nice diversions as well:
Water Sports
Our safe and sandy beach has a very gradual slope with no drop-offs. A beach-side deck with lounge furniture provides relaxation while sunning and a great place to watch the children play. Water skiing, jet skis, and other motorized water sports are allowed from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Row boats, canoes, and paddle boat are available for guests' use.
Hiking & Biking
Round Lake Non-Motorized Area has hiking, biking, and cross country ski trails, the historic logging dam, and Tucker Lake. Or venture further to the covered bridge, while still enjoying the spectacular fall colors or wild life including Bald Eagles, deer, chipmunks, fox, wolves, bears, and rabbits to name a few of things to enjoy in the forest.
Snowmobiling
Snowmobile enthusiasts will discover the best kept secret in the Northwoods; we are in the center of an outstanding network of trails groomed and maintained by the local snowmobile club, the Sno Drovers. Through the forests, over frozen lakes and along certain roads, the snowmobiler can enjoy the best rides ever experienced and an abundance of stops along the way to dine, gas up, or enjoy the company of other snowmobilers.
Price County Snowmobile Trails
ATVs
Many miles of well-marked trails (maps available) through the Chequamegon National Forest provide the rider with beautiful scenery of pine trees, water, wildlife and fun. The trail begins at our door.
